Wisteria Minis- Greenville, SC

Family, Motherhood Photographer, Greenville, SC, Spring Minis, Mama and Me Minis

I have been dreaming...

of Wisteria Minis for the last couple of years. But as much as this was a passion project, it became a patience project too. I've loved hanging Wisteria since the first time I saw them as a child and the only descriptive word that does them justice (in my humble opinion) is "MAGICAL". A couple of years ago, I was a new mom myself and when the idea hit me like a lightbulb, I was unfortunately neck deep in postpartum depression and still adjusting to a balance of mom + work life. I had zero bandwidth to make something like this happen with no prep time. Now LAST YEAR, however was a different story! As soon as I started seeing them on the sides of the road, I tracked their blooming season and began the hunt for a good location- because asking clients to hang out on the side of the road with babies and toddlers is not the best option, lol. I love location scouting- it fuels the little explorer inside me, but this particular spot just hit me on my way to the grocery store. A STUNNING expanse of Wisteria covering a Magnolia tree and backlit with sunset light. A literal dream spot and gift from the Lord. So I reached out to a friend who had recently said she would love to be on my model list and low and behold the most beautiful Jane Austin/English Countryside/Cottagecore vibe photos you could imagine in our little Greenville, SC.

Once I had my location and timeframe figured out, it became a patience game. The wisteria really only have a 10-14 day window of blooming, so by the time I had my promo photos last year, they were on the end of their blooming cycle. Expecting people to sign up for VERY last minute photo session niche, wasn't practical. So I waited.

A whole year.

But...

this year was so WORTH THE WAIT! I had six amazing families sign up for my dream visions and they were just so perfect. I was especially excited to have not 1, not 2, but 3 expecting mamas, one of which was using this session for their pregnancy announcement. <3 They didn't know the gender yet so they thought the PURPLE (mix of pink + blue) was a fun and beautiful backdrop to celebrate baby no matter the gender. Truly the sweetest and most thoughtful thing. And when I tell you every client used their minis as a way to celebrate something in their life (a baby, graduating high school, a milestone birthday, celebrating a new chapter of life, etc.), it really just added to the MAGIC (there's that word again ;)) of the day and all that life has to offer. It was such a joy and honor to be the one documenting these sweet families.

On top of every beautiful celebration, the weather and lighting were PERFECT (even with Table Rock on fire, the smoke did not impact our two days of shoots) and everyone came out ready to frolic in wisteria with me. Here are a few of my favorite images from those minis. Enjoy! And if this is something you would love to join me for next year- sign up for my newsletter! I always give my email besties first dibs on sessions, details and signups!

Until next year Wisteria!
